Some Inept Humans Can’t Understand How A Beautiful Dark Skinned Woman Won Miss USA

I’m no fan of pageants, I see no use for them. Just women parading around sometimes scantily clad like human trafficking auctions.

Tonight, Miss District of Columbia – Deshauna Barber was crowned Miss USA 2016.

I happened to see her photograph while perusing an online periodical. But as soon as I soon her face, I knew the comments would reflect the current state of stupidity and prejudice.

Miss Barber is beautiful. She is an accomplished 26-year-old Army officer, an IT analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce and smart, but that isn’t quite enough is it. She needs to have a nose that is barely there and a skin tone that is melanin deficient or snow white, tanned with lotions and sun tan bedded to match the current climate of acceptable. Also if she pumps her lips with cement that’s an added plus too, then and only then will she be seen as beautiful and acceptable.

Beauty is only skin deep. Maybe. But brains, personality, spirituality, strength, fairness and truth are also beautiful. My idiotic, sad, ugly brothers and sisters, one day you will realize that your words will impact you in a way you will never forget.

Deshauna Barber-nrMiss Barber’s bio:

“Deshauna is 26 years old and was born in Columbus, Georgia. Due to her father’s military career she relocated multiple times to states including North Carolina, Nebraska, Minnesota, Virginia and finally to Washington, D.C. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from Virginia State University, Deshauna moved to Washington D.C. where she is currently working as an IT Analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce. Being the daughter of a retired Army Master Sergeant it is no shocker that Deshauna decided to join the Army. She commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in 2011 and is currently a Logistics Commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit at Fort Meade, Maryland. Deshauna loves to dance, hike and enjoy quality time with her family. Deshauna has a passion to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, specifically focusing her platform on PTSD treatment for soldiers returning from deployments and suicide prevention in the Armed Forces.”

I don’t feel angry for these types of people, who based on skin tone, alone, will call someone ugly. My ideal of beautiful is very different from mainstream media. I feel sorry for said individuals, who because someone’s skin tone is dark, darker or darkest will label their brethren ugly. Peace be upon you, you need it.

A list of Black woman who have held the title of Miss USA – Nana Merriwether (2012), Crystle Stewart (2008), Rachel Smith (2007), Shauntay Hinton (2002), Lynette Cole (2000), Chelsi Smith (1995), Kenya Moore (1993) and Carole Gist (1990) and now Deshauna Barber (2016).
