Janet Hubert who is famous for playing the first Aunt Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air brought her troubles to facebook again.
Her only son, Elijah Whitten, 25, recently attempted suicide.
Instead of asking for prayers, we believe Janet blames her former co-star Will Smith.
Janet appeared on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air from 1990-1993, starring Will Smith, she was fired and replaced by Daphne Maxwell-Reid.
For over 25 years she has blamed Will for various things and stated he owes her an apology.
Will Smith has said in the past, “I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be The Aunt Viv of Bel Air Show, because I know she is going to dog me in the press. She has basically gone from a quarter of a million dollars a year to nothing. She’s mad now but she’s been mad all along. She said once, ‘I’ve been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.'”
Previously on facebook Janet said:
“It’s very suspect to me. I seem to recall 26 maybe seven years ago, whatever it was. I seem to remember at option time coming to you and saying, ‘You know, Will, you’re the star of the show, why don’t we all get together with you and maybe we could get a little raise. Maybe the network—since the show is such a hit—and you being the star of the show, you’re influence would help us greatly, like they did on Friends, like white shows do. Remember that?
In 2016 Janet appeared on daytime talk show, The Real and said, “Janet Hubert was never difficult on that set. Janet Hubert was so professional, it wasn’t even funny. I think Will simply needed to win, and I think sometimes when you get caught up in a lie and those things never happened. She never left the set. I never left the set. We got along great.”
She continued, “I went back to them in 2009 I and said, ‘Please, I need you to clear my name.’ I spoke to J.L.* when my dad died and my brother died, and I begged them. I said, ‘I have a family. I need you to tell the world that this stuff didn’t happen. And I was waiting in my heart, thinking somebody would come to me one day and help me, but they didn’t. Because I had been trained as a young woman, you always have you dignity, but I realized that redemption was not gonna come unless I did it myself.”
* Janet and Will only communicated through his manager at the time, James Lassiter (JL).
She then went on a rant about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has web series on facebook, Red Table Talk.
Now, what Elijah’s suicide attempt has to to with Will, is beyond me. Is Janet insinuating that if she stayed on The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air she would have gotten more roles, be more successful – then her son wouldn’t …. I don’t know.
Janet has since deleted her facebook page. We hope she and her son get the help they both need.
