Everyone has been wondering what’s the secret to Kim Kardashian’s weight loss and she is finally opening up and revealing how she got her sexy back! When a fan on Twitter asked the reality television star how she was able to lose so much weight Kim revealed:
“I’ve actually been doing the Atkins diet & luv it.”
Kim gave birth to her daughter North West four months ago on June 15th and has since dropped over twenty five pounds in an attempt to get her pre-baby body back. It is the first child for her and boyfriend Kanye West. Kim’s pregnancy was highly publicized and her weight gain was critiqued by many.
A rep for Atkins told the Daily News that Kardashian started the diet in Phase 2 instead of the more restrictive Phase 1 because she was nursing.
“After she delivered her baby on June 15, she wanted an effective and balance way to lose the baby weight. She’d done Atkins before and knew it worked, so once she got the approval of her doctor, we connected her with our Vice President of Nutrition Colette Heimowitz, who counseled her directly. Being a new nursing mother, she needed adequate calories to be healthy for her child and keep up her milk production. What’s great about Atkins is that it’s not about counting calories or depriving yourself,” Jennifer Livingston, a spokeswoman with Atkins Nutritionals, told The News.
The Atkins Diet is a popular, low carbohydrate diet invented by Dr. Robert Atkins that is loved by many celebrities. The Atkins Diet encourages eating foods high in protein and discourages from calorie counting. Some celebrities besides Kim who have praised the diet are Demi Moore, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Jennifer Aniston. But it’s not just the dieting that is helping Kim lose the baby weight, she has also been spotted at Barry’s Boot Camp Classes and working out.
