Broke Wives™️ | Real Housewives Of Atlanta Star Porsha Williams Owes The IRS $240,000 & Faces Losing Her Property
Real Housewives Of Atlanta star Porsha Williams owes more than $240,000 in unpaid taxes spanning an eight year period to the federal government, DailyMail.com can disclose.
The 37-year-old, who welcomed her daughter Pilar Jhena McKinley with fiancé Dennis McKinley on the 22nd March, was hit with the federal tax lien notice in late January.
Porsha owes the IRS $240,624.10 with the bulk of the money coming from the 2017 tax year at $197,907.58.
- 2009: $405.39
- 2011: $174.72
- 2012: $4,611.76
- 2015: $37,524.65
- 2017: $197,907.58
The notice of federal tax lien states: ‘We have made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid. Therefore, there is a lien in favor of the United States on all property and rights to property belonging to this taxpayer for the amount of theses taxes, and additional penalties, interest, and costs that may accrue.’
This isn’t the first time Porsha has had money problems.
Shortly after her divorce from former NFL star Kordell Stewart in 2013, there were rumors the reality star owed ‘money all over Atlanta.’
At the time of the divorce, Porsha was left virtually empty-handed. She wasn’t awarded any alimony or cash, did not get their house and didn’t receive any of Stewart’s NFL retirement money or health insurance as part of the divorce settlement. She had been angling to stay in their 8,000-square-foot marital home, but Stewart changed the locks on her after filing for divorce. Either Kordell had an airtight pre-nup, her had something on her or her lawyer was absolute rubbish.
Porsha was living in a luxury high-rise condo in Atlanta but owed about $18,000 in late homeowner’s fee. Porsha started living with her mother to save money.
A source acknowledged Porsha’s money issues to Radar Online in 2015, saying: “Porsha was basically broke when she walked away from her marriage. She didn’t want anything from the divorce. Some of those debts her husband was responsible for, but it all came back to her. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone has financial issues. Porsha is human, and is not ashamed of her past.”
But according to the federal tax lien, most of Porsha’s unpaid taxes comes from after she got divorced.
While she was married to Kordell, she only owed $405.39 in the 2009 tax year, $174.72 in the 2011 tax year and $4,611.76 in 2012.
After her divorce, she owed $37,524.65 in 2015 and $197,907.58 in 2017.
But despite being hit with the hefty notice in January, Porsha seems to be doing just fine.
Update: According to a ‘source’ who spoke to US Magazine, “Porsha employs professionals to handle her finances and was totally unaware of any issue related to money owed to the IRS. The bill has been settled — there are no outstanding debts.”
