On this Teen Mom Finale Part 1 we hear from Catelynn, Tyler, and Farrah. This is the second to last episode EVER, and I’m pretty (okay, I’m REALLY) bummed. We have seen these ladies grow from pregnant 16-year-olds to responsible adults. We’ve seen their babies go from newborns, to infants, to toddlers, to preschool, and to pre-k. It’s kind of depressing knowing that we won’t be able to see their stories, struggles, or progression on television anymore.
Farrah: Farrah’s update is that she is currently single and looking. She explains that letting Sophia live with her mom for a month was the hardest decision she had ever made, but one that was worth it in the end because of the straight A’s she received. Her mother, Debra, joins her on stage and the two seem to be in a much better place than seasons past, but Farrah’s anger is still extremely apparent. I’m unsure why exactly she is mad, but I can guess that it has to do with her parents refusing to allow her boyfriend have anything to do with the pregnancy. Her boyfriend passed away in a tragic car accident while Farrah was still pregnant and she’s expressed her anger with her parents multiple times. Dr. Drew asks her why she calls Michael by his first name instead of dad and if he is even her real father. Farrah replies that she can’t call someone “Dad” if she lost all respect for him. She also says that her parents annoy her because they’re divorced but spend a lot of time going out, drinking, and for dinner. Dr. Drew tells her that this actually sounds healthy because the two are still co-parenting and co-grandparenting, but I can understand why it may be confusing to Farrah, as their divorce is still fresh. The advancements of Farrah since the ending of the show have been her new music video and song: “On My Own,” as well as her new book: “My Teenage Dream Ended.”
Catelynn: Catelynn looks AMAZING. She lost weight and it really shows in her confidence. Tyler is so supportive of her and it really shines on stage. Dr. Drew continues to thank them for making the ultimate sacrifice; putting Carly up for adoption and the two talk about how that has brought them a lot closer with Catelynn pointing out, “Look at everyone on the show. Only we are the couple that stayed together.” A lot of this past season revolved around both of their parents being upset that they couldn’t visit with Carly and Butch’s stints in and out of jail. This season Butch was the closest he’s ever been to being completely off parole but he reportedly abused Catelynn’s mom and was thrown back in jail. Tyler talks about the letter he wrote on the last episode and how he was unable to send it to his father because he still loves and believes in him. Catelynn is joined by her mom who is sober and continuing her AA work. She apologizes to Catelynn for what she put her through growing up and promises to make a change for Catelynn’s little brother Nick. Catelynn says that if she doesn’t she will adopt Nick with Tyler. The happiest part of the episode is when Catelynn and Tyler announce that they’ve set a date for their wedding; NEXT YEAR!!!! I am so excited and really hope that MTV will tape all of their wedding festivities, including; bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal showers, wedding, honeymoon. I’m SO excited.
Part 2 looks crazy, with Maci telling Dalis “I don’t think you want to go there because if you do I’ll tell you something you don’t want to hear.”
