The teen, who police have identified only as a juvenile, took his video down from Facebook Saturday which was posted with the caption, “Mhmm finally caught that a**.”
In the video, he holds the cat by its throat and says, “You think it’s a mother******* game, huh? Keep on eating my dog food. You hear me? I’ll choke the s*** out of your dumb a**.”
He then throws the cat across the street.
Contacted by newsnet5.com and NewsChannel5, the Cleveland Animal Protective League about the video. On Monday APL CEO Sharon Harvey said the agency is investigating the incident.
“We are now checking our findings with CPD’s Bureau of Detectives who are also looking into this and when we put everything together we will be figuring out what our next steps will be based on the evidence and where that takes us,” said Harvey.
The cat, which has been named Claryssa, is now in the care of the APL and Harvey says no conclusion on her condition has been made yet, but she urges the public’s continued support when it comes to animal cruelty cases in the area.
“If we can’t put that evidence together than we can’t move forward with cases so the outpouring we had today was important not only from the standpoint of knowing people care about these animals and the work we’re doing but it does also help us with our cases,” added Harvey.
