Body of missing doctor Teleka Patrick who was accused of stalking gospel singer Marvin Sapp, is found in a lake.
A body pulled from an Indiana lake has been identified as Michigan Dr. Teleka Patrick, who has been missing since December 2013, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said in a news conference this morning.
Investigators claim that Dr Patrick appears to have drowned as they have currently found no signs of trauma or foul play on the body, and the official cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results, Sheriff Fuller said.
According to Freep, the lake was covered in ice during previous searches, and the body hadn’t been found despite searchers breaking the ice and using sonar. A fisherman discovered the body less than a week after a recent search, Fuller said.
A car belonging to Dr Patrick was found abandoned along I-94 in northwestern Indiana on Dec. 5. Authorities pulled a woman’s body from nearby Lake Charles on Sunday. Sheriff Fuller said Dr Patrick had been “troubled” previous times, checking herself into motels or hotels. Her body was found clothed, with car keys, $100 cash and a pager. Lake Charles is about 15 miles east of Gary, Ind. Police and FBI agents searched the lake Jan. 23 for Patrick.
Following the positive identification on Patrick’s body, Patrick’s family released the following statement Wednesday morning:
“Over the past several months, you have gotten to know Teleka Cassandra Patrick. You’ve gotten to know her how we knew her and you’ve seen her bright and caring smile. She was beautiful, intelligent, and God-fearing. You’ve prayed for Teleka, cried for Teleka, and worked to find Teleka and we thank you. We thank you for walking this difficult journey with our family. Teleka’s death is not the ending we had hoped for, however, the journey does not end here. As we mourn Teleka, we must also honor her; honor the life she led, honor her kind spirit and honor her devotion to God and others. Teleka had a passion and zest for life and no matter the circumstances that led up to her death, we are certain that she would not have taken her own life. Many questions remain, but what is certain is that we will love her forever and her legacy will continue to live on in the love we show to others. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy in this difficult time.”
This is so sad.
