A Canadian husband and father, Randy Janzen, has apparently confessed to shooting dead his 19-year-old daughter, Emily, his wife, Laurel, and his sister, Shelly at two separate homes in a terrible Facebook post: “Now my family is pain-free and in heaven.”

Randy Janzen was distraught over his daughter Emily’s debilitating migraines which led him to shoot her in the head at a house in British Columbia.

Shortly after the statement was posted on Facebook Thursday, investigators confirmed a multiple homicide involving family members had taken place at two different residences in the province. Following the shootings, police surrounded one of the homes and tried to speak to a man inside, officials said. They then fired gas grenades into the house, which caught fire and exploded into flames.

Randy is believed to have killed himself during the police standoff. It hasn’t been confirmed yet that he wrote the post that appeared on his Facebook page.

On Friday, Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokeswoman, Sergeant Stephanie Ashton, said: “It is believed that several members of one family including the suspect are deceased.”

She said that one body had been located in the house that did not explode, situated in Langely. But she added she could not confirm the number of victims at the crime scene at 10003 Llanberis Way.

Janzen’s Facebook post was uploaded at 12.19pm on Thursday – nearly three hours before Langley authorities became aware that an Agassiz man had possibly harmed his family members in the area.

In the disturbing post, Janzen apparently writes:
“I have done some of the worst things I could have ever imagined a person doing. First, to do with my dear, sweet, loving daughter Emily. The best little girl two parents could ever hope for… Emily excelled at so many things but slowly had to stop almost everything because of the migraines. I don’t think anyone really knew how much pain Emily was in on a daily basis and the severe depression that these migraines caused her. Emily had tried everything to get better but nothing seemed to help her. I took a gun and shot her in the head and now she is migraine free and floating in the clouds on a sunny afternoon. Then I shot Laurel because a mother should never have [to] hear the news her baby has died. Then a couple of days later my sister Shelly because I did not want her to have to live with this shame I have caused all alone. Now my family is pain free (sic) and in heaven. I am taking full responsibility for my actions of these murders. So sorry to anyone I have hurt. Rest in peace my little family. Love Daddio.”

Randy and his wife were married for 25 years.
