Jury Acquits Zimmerman. After weeks of testimonies and 2 days of jury deliberating. A jury found George Zimmerman not guilty in the murder of 17 year old, Trayvon Martin.
A verdict has been reached in the murder trial of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter on Saturday.
Zimmerman showed no emotion as the verdict was read. After the verdict was read, he smiled slightly and shook hands with one of his lawyers.
The women decided Zimmerman didn’t “intentionally commit an act or acts that caused death” or demonstrate a “depraved mind without regard for human life” –Florida’s definitions of manslaughter and second degree murder, respectively. The jurors have been deliberating for 16½ hours total, including 13 on Saturday alone. However, despite now being a free man, Jose Baez, a Florida criminal defense attorney, said Zimmerman will likely go into hiding and be unable to live a normal life for some time.
“The end is not near for George Zimmerman,” he said.
At the press conference Prosecutor Angela Corey appeared smug and in giving her statements and answering questions she seemed nonchalant and not emotional or upset enough about the outcome.
Angela Corey: “This case has never been about race or the right to bear arms.” Really? Angela needs to be demoted to sex crimes.
