Reality star (Laguna Beach, The Hills) Kristin Cavallari, 33, and her husband of 7 years, former NFL star Jay Cutler, 36, are divorcing.
Kristin and Jay announced the news publicly on social media and asked for privacy: “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
The couple began dating in 2010 and the former Chicago Bears football player proposed over Easter weekend in April 2011. Kristin called off their engagement three months later.
Kristin explained in her memoir, Balancing in Heels, that she wasn’t sure at the time that she and Jay were ready to take the next step in their relationship.
From just the previews of their reality show, Very Cavallari, I’m surprised they lasted this long. She looked disinterested in him,
The former couple have three children together, sons Camden, 7, Jaxon, 5 and daughter Saylor, 4.
During the season 3 premiere of her reality show, Kristin revealed that she and friend Kelly Henderson hadn’t spoken all summer in the aftermath of the rumor that Kelly and Jay were having an affair. Kelly, a celebrity stylist and glam specialist, was featured on seasons 1 and 2.
While Kristin, insisted she never believed the rumor, she said she was upset that Kelly “never once” apologized and continued to mention Jay, on social media, which “fueled the fire.”
Earlier this year the Cutler’s and a few of their friends were stranded in the Bahamas as the COVID-19 pandemic kept them from returning to the U.S. They returned home to Nashville, Tennessee, a few weeks ago, but that Caribbean getaway obviously didn’t bring them closer together.
