Mackenzie Douthit raised eyebrows and had fans excited when she posted on her official Facebook Fan Page asking if people would watch a spin off. Now MTV is revealing that there will be no spin off for Mackenzie, or any of the Teen Mom 3 girls. The news comes shortly after MTV announced that Teen Mom 3 will be cancelled after only one season. It is the first Teen Mom franchise that hasn’t made it to at least five seasons. The 19-year-old mom had one of the show’s more compelling story lines, battling Diabetes, marrying longtime boyfriend and her baby (Gannon’s) daddy Josh McKee in August of 2013. She is currently seven-months pregnant with a little girl. Mackenzie’s mom, Angie Douthit, Tweeted the following on December 7th expressing her sadness of the show’s cancellation: “I’m very sad MTV chose to cancel. I wanted to keep sharing my faith on TV. And Mack wanted to share her struggles with diabetes. So sad…”
Teen Mom 3 premiered in August of 2013 featuring the story lines of Mackenzie, Briana DeJesus, Alexandria Sekella, and Katie Yeager. The girls quickly complained about how their story lines were laid out with some saying it was “edited” to make them look bad. Fans also complained that the new series wasn’t as drama filled as the previous ladies such as Farrah Abraham, Amber Portwood, and Jenelle Evans. An MTV spokesperson reveals:
“MTV will not be moving forward with a second season of Teen Mom 3. We’re thankful to Briana, Katie, Mackenzie, Alex and their families for sharing their stories as they navigate young parenthood and for helping to have a positive impact on the importance of teen pregnancy prevention.”
MTV should bring the original Teen Mom girls back. What are your thoughts? Post your comments below.
