Warning Graphic Image: Rashad Johnson Loses Part Of His Finger Trying To Tackle In Cardinals’ Loss At Saints
WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTO BELOW – The Cardinals safety, Rashad Johnson tore off a part of his left middle finger down to the first knuckle, during Sunday’s 31-7 loss to the Saints. He had surgery Sunday.
According to the Arizona Republic, Johnson took off his glove after trying to tackle Darren Sproles on a punt return and saw part of his finger was still inside the glove.
Doctors performed surgery on Sunday shaving the bone and repairing the digit but the risk of infection remains because the bone was exposed. The paper reports that he lost the tip of the finger, down to about the first knuckle.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Johnson is “day to day,” and could play Sunday against the Buccaneers depending on how fast it heals and Johnson’s pain tolerance.
“It’s a little tip with stitches,” the coach said. That looks very painful.
